I wasnt entirely sure what to do as my first beauty/fashion post, as i thought it should be exciting to entise you in, but i decided to do what i originally thought, and write a review for you. After rummaging through my makeup basket, i decided to review the Maybelline Colour Tattoos.
Now, i have two of these, and once you've finished reading this you will have hopefully noticed that i much prefer one than i do the other. The first one i got a few months ago in 35-On and On Bronze, and my second i got a fortnight ago online, in 05-Eternal Gold.
Left - on and on bronze , Right - eternal gold.
First of all, i really love the formula of these, they are really creamy, and easy/quick to apply. I have heard that they are similar to MAC Paint Pots, which I am looking to buy soon, and i was thinking of getting Bare Study, so if you've tried that let me know what you think? Anyway, if they're compared to MAC products by lots of people then you will already get the impression that they are good.
At £4.99 i think they are amazingly cheap for the quality and quantity that you get with them. The colour pay off of both products is really good, however when swatched On and On Bronze is really shimmery but it doesnt look as shimmery when applied to the lid which was a real let down to the product. Also, the name of the product gives an illusion that you are buying a bronze eyeshadow, when in fact i see it as a brown / taupe colour, so you should swatch it before you buy it if youre thinking on buying this product. Eternal Gold however is really true to it's name. It is a beautiful shimmery gold, and it really is the brightest gold you'll ever see. It looks so pretty on the inner third of your eyelid, but i dont feel it looks as nice all over the lid on its own, whereas on and on bronze could just be slapped on by itself if you were in a rush.
I will insert photos of swatches below so you can see what the colours are like out of the pot.
The swatches of both colours I own.
As you can see the gold is a lot brighter, and the 'Bronze' is actually more of a light silvery taupe colour. Both swatches look extremely shimmery here, which I personally love, but if you're not into super shimmery eyeshadows, then i reccomend that you opt for On and On Bronze as it is not as shimmery as it is in the swatch when you incorporate it into an eye look, which was a disappointment for me.
Also, in the top image you can see that the packaging is really cute, the shadows come in adorable little circular glass jars which i think is really nice, and then the lid shows all the key information of the product e.g the colour, name of product etc.
Overall i love both of these and use them both on a day to day basis, but obviously Eternal Gold is my favourite of the two. Next i am looking to get the shade Pink Gold but i am still unsure as to whether i would wear it so i am holding off until i'm sure.
Have you tried out any of the Maybelline Colour Tattoo's? If you have then what do you think? Which colour do you prefer?
Chloe xx
